William Tasker

American

William Tasker is an American American Impressionism painter. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Metropolitan Museum of Art.

William Tasker showed up to parties in a paint-smeared coat and left with half the wall space reserved. He painted the everyday stuff of 1920—trucks, fire hydrants, a sailor’s lunchbox—like they were heroes. Flip to National Defense and you’ll spot a Coast Guard cutter cutting through choppy green water; the waves look alive because Tasker stood on the dock every morning until he got the light exactly right.
