Gaborone, Botswana Medu Art Ensemble

They were a collective of artists, teachers, and exiles who met in a Gaborone backyard every Friday, turning their meetings into a kind of living newspaper. Their posters weren’t hung in galleries—they were pasted on walls, bus stops, and university gates overnight, often right after a protest or before an election. The ink still smells faint when you get close to the real ones. Their work belonged to whoever walked by, not to collectors.
