Artist

Asi

Asi is a Mughal Painting artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Asi made finely observed drawings that appear in manuscripts from 16th-century Persia. One page shows a lynx pausing in a star-filled margin of the Lights of Canopus, while another piece is an untitled study painted in muted tones around 1590–95. The lines are spare, yet the animal’s alert gaze seems to ask questions about what it sees. Curious to see more Persian manuscript art? Tap into the Lights of Canopus spreads.
