Artist

Pitt

Pitt is a social realism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Watercolour painter Pitt captured quiet corners of mid-century Britain, especially in Greenwich. In 1941 they turned their gaze to The Manor House, Croom’s Hill, where brick walls meet sloping roofs in soft, layered washes. The scene feels lived-in: narrow windows, ivy creeping, a single chimney against low London light. Look closely and you can almost hear the hum of wartime traffic beyond the wall. Next, step inside the same sketchbook to see how Pitt handled reflections on the Thames at dusk.
