This guy printed ukiyo-e so flamboyant it looks like a fashion spread. A print-shop owner by day, Eishō spent nights sketching courtesans and kabuki actors in poses so theatrical they practically leap off the page. The woodblock layers—iridescent mica, glossy silk robes—were his way of saying, “Let’s make Edo’s glamour last forever.” Meet him through *Untitled* (1798), where a beauty’s sleeve catches the light like gilt on a sword: one swipe of color and you’re hooked.
