Artist

Crudu Dimitrie

Crudu Dimitrie is a Byzantine icon painting artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Moldova National Museum Complex.

Dimitrie Crudu kept a studio so small his easel doubled as his dining table, mixing paints between bites of polenta. In 1910 he painted *Copil*—a barefoot child in a threadbare shirt, staring past the frame like the world’s rules don’t apply to him. You’ll find him on Gallery Tiles next to the same painting; tap once to zoom in on those worn shoes and you’ll see why every shadow feels like a second thought.
