Mrs. H. R. Williams

Mrs. H. R. Williams is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This unknown photographer carried a heavy brass camera up mountains to catch the light before noon. She shot the same steep valley every season for years, proving that a glass plate could hold a sunrise in its silver. Look for *Photograph (c.1873)* in the archive: a black-and-white print where the river looks almost liquid because she held her breath while the image developed.
