Jonas Coldewy Ahlgren

Jonas Coldewy Ahlgren is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Nationalmuseum.

Jonas Coldewy Ahlgren once painted portraits so sharp you can see the candle wax stuck to a bishop’s sleeve in *Peder Winstrup, 1605–1679*. He worked in Lund’s chilly cathedral close, where winter drafts carried the smell of old stone and ink. The bishop’s face in that painting looks like he’s about to speak—maybe to scold the painter for another missed sitting. Ahlgren didn’t chase fame; he stayed put, letting the light through the north window do the talking.
