Created in 1828, the painting entered the holdings of Statens Museum for Kunst, Denmark’s principal state museum, where it remains on display. Its acquisition reflects the institution’s early commitment to preserving works that document national industry and the development of Danish seafaring heritage.

Eckersberg, often called the “Father of Danish painting,” was a leading figure in the Golden Age of Danish art.
