The album comprises 179 sheets of drawings by George Chinnery, created during his time in Bengal and Macau, and includes three depictions of a cow—two featuring an exaggerated hump—and one drawing of a dog. Bequeathed in 1928 by James Orange, the album originally contained 93 drawings by Chinnery. Chinnery, born in London in 1774, began his career as a miniature portraitist before relocating to India in 1802, where he later established himself as a prominent artist in British India. He spent his final years in Macau, where he continued to work until his death in 1852.
