About this work

Olivia Kemp made *That Which Flourishes Remains* in 2014. It’s a screenprint, one of eight special prints from Jealous Print Studio’s Graduate Prize.

Each year, Jealous gives a residency to one art-school graduate. Winners spend weeks printing new work with professional help. Then their prints go to the Victoria and Albert Museum.

That’s where Kemp’s print now lives.
Look up Kemp, Olivia.

Overview

That Which Flourishes Remains is a 2014 screenprint by Olivia Kemp, produced as part of the Jeopard Print Studio Graduate Prize. The work is one of eight limited‑edition prints created by recent MA Fine Art graduates and now resides in the Victoria and Albert Museum’s print collection.

Subject & Meaning

The image derives from a pen‑and‑ink drawing of an abandoned building near Kemp’s family home in Suffolk. It reflects her ongoing interest in how natural processes gradually reclaim spaces that were once shaped by human activity.

Technique & Style

Created in a professional print studio, the piece was produced through screenprinting under the guidance of studio technicians. The method preserves the linear qualities of the original drawing while translating them into the bold, layered aesthetic characteristic of screen‑printed editions.

History & Provenance

Jeopard Print Studio instituted the Graduate Prize in 2009, awarding a residency and studio access to a graduate from each of eight major London art schools. Kemp, a 2014 MA Drawing graduate from Wimbledon College of Art, completed the print during her residency. All graduate editions were donated to the V&A, where the work remains.
