The bust shows a man with a mustache and closed eyes, turned slightly to the side. The rough surface texture suggests it was carved by hand, possibly from stone or clay.
History & Provenance
The photograph was received as a response to a questionnaire distributed by William Kineton Parkes in the 1920s. It was bequeathed to the Archive of Art and Design by Parkes in 1938.
Technique & Style
The photograph is mounted on green card and features a small label with numbers at the bottom, giving it a documentary quality.
