Portrait of Count Mikhail S. Vorontsov (1782-1856)

Lawrence's skill in oil painting is evident in the detailed rendering of Vorontsov's uniform and the subtle play of light on the subject's attire and surroundings. The dark background with a lighter area on the right side creates a sense of depth.

The painting is now held in the State Hermitage Museum. Thomas Lawrence, the artist, was a renowned English portrait painter who became president of the Royal Academy later in his career.
