Overview

Untitled is a drawing by Xenon Straub, created in 2001 using watercolor and ballpoint pen on paper. It is part of The Museum of Modern Art's collection.

Subject & Meaning

The drawing depicts a red heart with a face and sharp teeth, from which orange intestines spill out. A yellow pill is lodged in its mouth. Behind the heart, a building with yellow and purple lines appears to be dissolving.

Technique & Style

Straub combined watercolor washes with sharp black lines, achieved through the use of ballpoint pen, to create a contrast between soft and rough textures. The colors stand out against the white paper, evoking a dreamlike quality.
