Gheorghe Pogan

Gheorghe Pogan is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Museum of Romanian History.

Gheorghe Pogan worked in 1980s Romania, where every public wall got a paint job with the same smiling faces. His 1988 oil “Omagiul Președintelui Țării” shows the Ceaușescus getting bouquets while three kids wave and a road crew salutes from the back. In the corner, a winding highway and a dug-out canal promise modernity—on paper, at least. Swipe to see this time-capsule propaganda in high color.
