Gheorghe Feur didn’t sign his name on the back—he left the work to speak for itself. His late-period icons from Nicula-Gherla show a quiet rebellion: the faces are round and clumsy, the beards too heavy, the Christ’s body oddly graceful, like a dancer who forgot to bow. The colors fight the drawing—reds fade into greens, yellow earth clashes with browns—because Feur trusted the paint to settle the score.
