F.M. Aigner
F.M. Aigner is a Biedermeier artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Țării Crișurilor Museum.
This 19th-century painter worked in Romania and left one visible slice of court life: the 1861 portrait Împărătesa Elisabeta. It shows the empress in full court dress, the brushwork tight enough to catch the stiff lace at her throat and the faint sheen on her braided hair. The picture hangs inside the same palace—today’s Romanian Athenaeum—where the session may have taken place. Step right to admire the way the sitter’s gloved hand rests on the throne’s armrest and the gold thread catching the light.
