Emilio Casals y Camps

Emilio Casals y Camps is an Art Nouveau artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya.

Emilio Casals Camps spent his life carving wooden reliefs in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, where he’d balance a mug of coffee on his workbench between chisels. He never left Spain but carved scenes so detailed they look like miniature paintings. His work fits right in at Gallery Tiles—tap his 1870 walnut relief “La Calesera,” a woman in a lace mantilla, and you’ll see why his hands could turn a scrap of wood into a whole world.
