Kari Hakli

Kari Hakli is an artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Helsinki City Museum.

Kari Hakli’s drawings focus on quiet corners of everyday Finnish homes, especially kitchens and doorways. In 1980 she made two closely related views of the kitchen in Ruiskumestarin talo, a 19th-century house in Turku, using graphite to capture light slanting across a wood-floored room. One drawing shows the kitchen itself; the other frames the same scene through the vestibule door, stitching together inside and entrance. See how the same four walls and single light source look when viewed straight-on versus through an oak-lined frame. Next, step into the hallway shown in Ruiskumestarin talon keittiö kuvattuna eteisen ovelta.
