Grigorian Rusu

Grigorian Rusu is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Museum of Romanian History.

Grigorian Rusu liked to hide his real opinions where only insiders would notice. In 1982 he painted Ceaușescu and the People for the local Party bosses in Dolj, showing the dictator front and center with a tricolor sash while workers marched in the background. The joke? He slipped his own signature on the right side—right where censors usually checked last. Look closer and you’ll see the workers’ faces aren’t glowing; they look tired. His trick teaches us that even the most official pictures can have quiet cracks. Tap his portrait at the gallery to zoom in on those details.
