Ferdinando Galli Bibiena

Ferdinando Galli Bibiena is a Baroque artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Ferdinando Galli Bibiena spent his life drawing every inch of a stage—curtains, columns, balconies—until they felt like rooms you could step into. The first time you see one of his prints, you’ll notice how the ceiling vanishes into a painted sky while the floor curves upward, as if the whole theater is tilting. That trick, called quadratura, is the reason his work still sits in opera houses today. Hunt down his *H Beard Print Collection* (1716) and you’ll see why directors still steal from his playbook.
