Executed in letterpress, the piece uses the physical imprint of ink on paper to emphasize tactile presence. The grid of microdots creates a subtle texture that enhances the vibrancy of the pink ground and contrasts with the soft, blurred blue shape. Faded typography and deliberate imperfections in registration signal an aesthetic of restraint, aligning with Kinmont’s broader practice of valuing process over spectacle.

This work entered The Museum of Modern Art’s collection in 2009, following Kinmont’s long-standing engagement with print culture since the late 1980s. As both an artist and antiquarian bookseller, he has consistently treated printed matter as a site of archival and conceptual inquiry. The broadside emerged from his ongoing exploration of publishing as a curatorial act, rather than a commercial one.

Kinmont’s practice intersects with post-conceptual and relational art traditions, where the circulation and reception of objects matter as much as their creation.
