Salomo Wuorio

Salomo Wuorio spent his days hunched over sketches of glass windows, turning paint into light before the glass even left the workshop. He kept a jar of sunflower seeds on his desk, cracking them open between designs, which might explain why sunflowers and vines kept winding through his window plans. If you’ve ever paused under a church window in Finland, you’ve probably seen something that started as one of his pencil swirls. His 1860 drawing for a round window in Kustaa Vaasa church lets you trace his pencil lines straight into the colored panes.
