Master of the Holy Kinship the Elder

Portrait of a Woman
Triptych: Madonna and Child with Saints
St. Jerome and a bishop
Beschneidungsaltar: Die hll. Barbara(?), Christina und Maria Magdalena

Master of the Holy Kinship the Elder is a Northern Renaissance painter. 10 works are cataloged here, principally at Bavarian State Painting Collections.

This late medieval painter made small devotional panels, usually on oak, filled with saints and family scenes. One of them is the 1420 Triptych: Madonna and Child with Saints, where Jesus and Mary sit between bishops and holy kin. Another is the 1512 St. Jerome and a bishop, a one-panel study of the hermit doctor with a kneeling prelate. If you like crowded altarpieces and burnished gold backgrounds, tap the Madonna triptych to step inside.
