Catalina Marin

Catalina Marin is an artist. 3 works are cataloged here, principally at "Dimitrie Gusti" National Village Museum.
She spent weeks in the same wooden church, sleeping on a bench behind the altar, because the light inside only hit the frescoes right at 10 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. That ritual turned her photographs of the angels’ painted faces into something between postcard and prayer. Look up the 1982 shot titled “Partial view of the wooden church ‘Sf. Archangels’ from Ociu” and you’ll see why the wood’s grain looks like a second set of wings.
