Sustris's work combines the rich colorism of the Venetian school, where he was trained under Titian, with elements of Mannerism, evident in his use of elongated forms and harmonious composition. The style anticipates certain characteristics of the Baroque.

The painting is now part of the Kunsthistorisches Museum's collection. Sustris, a Dutch artist, worked primarily in Venice, where his style was shaped by Italian and Northern European artistic traditions.
