Landscape with Alley and Building

After its completion, the painting entered the holdings of the Hungarian National Gallery, where it has remained in the institution’s collection. Its acquisition reflects the gallery’s commitment to preserving works by prominent national artists of the late 19th century.

Although Munkácsy is widely recognized for dramatic genre and biblical subjects, this work illustrates his capacity to render everyday landscapes with equal skill.
