About this work
Overview
Created in 1985 by Romanian artist Poiată Toth Rodica, “Țarina amenințată” is part of the collection of the Museum of Ethnography. The work is presented in a simple wooden frame whose unfinished surface and exposed nails reveal a deliberately raw aesthetic.
Technique & Style
The back of the piece shows a wooden border surrounding a canvas covered with a red fabric backing. Hand‑written black ink on this backing records the title “ȚARINA AMENINȚATĂ,” the artist’s name, and a series of alphanumeric markings that appear to function as a personal code or signature.
History & Provenance
Since its creation, the work has remained in the custody of the Museum of Ethnography, where it is displayed as part of the institution’s holdings of contemporary Romanian visual culture.
