Gheorghe Tobias din Abrud was a Transylvanian monk who doodled saints in the margins of his prayer books. He drew Jesus in a three-panel scene called *Deisis*, with saints staring straight at you like they’re waiting for an answer. Look up *Cina de la Mamvri*—his version of the Last Supper where Judas isn’t hiding, he’s just tired. His ink sketches feel alive because he mixed church rules with real faces from his village.
