Created around 1830, the work reflects the broader documentation of Taylor’s travels in the Middle East, later published in his 1839 volume *La Syrie, l'Égypte, La Palestine et la Judée*. The drawing was engraved by Finden after a version by Dauzats, while its provenance includes ownership by the Duc de Montpensier before passing through later collections.
