Mandala of the Buddhist Deity Chakrasamvara

Executed with mineral pigments on a silk or cotton support, the painting employs precise line work and vibrant colors characteristic of Tibetan thangka tradition. Created by an anonymous workshop in the 15th‑century Himalayan region, the mandala entered a monastic collection before being acquired by a museum in the early 20th century. Documentation traces its movement from a remote monastery to a European institution during the period of increased Western interest in Tibetan art.
