It is part of a 59-work botanical watercolor album attributed to Jacques Lemoyne de Morgues, dated around 1575. The verso of the sheet is blank, and the work belongs to a group of botanical illustrations acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1856. The album’s inscriptions in French and Latin, along with its binding, suggest it was likely produced in France before Lemoyne’s move to London around 1580.
