The painting was executed shortly after Ślewiński’s studies with Paul Gauguin, a relationship that informed his approach to color and form. Since its creation, the work has remained in Poland, entering the National Museum in Warsaw where it is displayed as part of the museum’s representation of early twentieth‑century Polish art.
