After its creation in Rome, the self‑portrait entered the collection of the Uffizi Gallery, where it remains part of the museum’s holdings of 18th‑century Italian art. Its presence in the Uffizi underscores Ghezzi’s recognition within the broader European artistic network of his time.

Ghezzi is noted for his frescoes, historical scenes, and especially his caricatures, which earned him the reputation as the first professional caricaturist.
