Mutfakçi or chef is a watercolor work on paper by the Romanticist artist Anonymous Greek artist. It dates from 1809 and is held in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. This watercolour depicts a chef wearing a turban and is part of a large series of works documenting Ottoman life and customs.

This watercolor shows a chef in a turban. It’s part of a big set made for a British diplomat. The artist mixes Ottoman style with European ways of drawing.
The diplomat got to see Ottoman life up close in 1808. A local artist recorded what he saw, but we don’t know who it was.
