Technique & Style
The painting displays the meticulous glazing characteristic of the Northern Renaissance, building luminous colour through thin, translucent layers. Fine detailing appears in the sumptuous fabrics and the textured foliage, while the crisp rendering of light on flesh and metal reflects the workshop’s affiliation with the Antwerp Mannerist tendency toward elaborate surface treatment.
