Sfinții Ierarhi Ioan Gură-de-Aur și Vasile cel Mare sunt reprezentați împreună, binecuvântând cu mâna dreaptă și ținând în mâna stângă Sfânta Evanghelie. Sunt îmbrăcați în veșmânt-sacos verde, cu felon roșu vermillon și epitrahil galben-ocru. Împreună slujesc și săvârșesc Sfânta Liturghie. În registrul îndepărtat superior, este pictat cerul albastru cu stele albe și roșii. Cromatica este armonioasă: roșu vermillon, verde, albastru, galben-ocru, alb. Sfântul Ierarh Ioan Gură-de-Aur poartă și mithră arhierească. Amândoi Sfinții Ierarhi au aureole aurii. Rama este pictată cu tușe negre pe maro-roșcat, alternanță de brunuri. Este o icoană specifică picturii de Țara Oltului, din centrul Șcheii Brașovului. Tematica este rară.

Executed in the regional painting tradition of the Olt River area, the work employs a harmonious palette of vermilion, green, blue, ochre and white. The figures are outlined with black brushwork on a reddish‑brown ground, and the background sky is rendered in flat blue with stylised stars, reflecting the iconographic conventions of Romanian ecclesiastical art.

The icon originates from the central district of Brașov’s historic quarter, Șchei, an area known for its distinctive religious art. It is now part of the collection of the Museum of Ethnography, where it is preserved as a rare example of this local iconographic theme.

Depicting the two hierarchs together is an uncommon motif in Romanian iconography, making the piece a valuable illustration of regional devotional practices. The use of vivid colors and the specific garment patterns align it with other works produced in the Olt River region during the same period.
